Fairy Tales and Nursery Rymes

Check out our Finlay Princess Crown headband.  They are gorgeous and soft to wear and would suit all little princesses.  While you are there have a nosy around the Handmade Cooperative Blog.  It is designed to showcase some very clever people in Australia who handmake all their fabulous items.

Usual for some, unusual for others.

We are welcoming a new member to our family.  Introducing 'Petunia'(Miss M and Miss S named her....such a typical girly name).
She came to us about 4 weeks ago by an unfortunate incident with her mother.  Mr B and the girls were out driving checking the waters when they came across her just being born.  I am not going to go into details because it involves 'bums'(Miss S's words) and a passing of the mother.  There was nothing we could do for the poor heifer.  This was her first calf and Petunia is quite a monster for a newborn calf.
So she has joined us in the house yard.  Lucky for her I had just mulched all the gardens with straw so finding a bed has not been difficult.  She joins me in feeding the horses.  She will have the occasional game with you.  She comes when you call her (she hasn't reached that adolescent time yet when she rebels and thinks she's safe out with all the dogs...it will come I am sure).  So I would say that she has become a member of the family.
Now it's all cute when they are this age but being this friendly does cause some problems when she is older and out with the other cows.  It probably only causes Mr B the problems because when you go to muster they(poddy calves grown up) never just follow the other cows.  When they get in the yards they don't 'Yard Up' because they are with you wanting a pat or think you may have some food.  They also don't know when to get out of the way.

All things put to the side they do make great pets.  That's easy for us to say because we have somewhere to put them when they are grown up!

Made It Monday

It's Monday again.  I don't like Monday's, it means it's the start of another hectic week.  These few finds may help to brighten your Monday.

I have brand new twin nieces.  I am a first time Aunty so it is very exciting to me.  It means I have someone to pass on hand me downs to and also I don't know anything about little boys!
So this post is dedicated to them.  Some very cute and adorable baby gift ideas.

Next week we will have some baby boy gift ideas.  I hope your Monday comes and goes without any major catastrophes.

I LOVE Donna Hay

While I was in town on Monday afternoon I dropped into the newsagent and straight away this mag caught my eye.  It's funny what colours catch your attention and that is why I probably love pastels so much.  I see them everywhere
I am in love with the colours in Donna Hays Kids recipe book.  The pastels are so creamy and delicious looking.  The little melted choc cups on the front cover are just so cute.  I think I may use this idea for one the girls birthdays.  I may put some yummy ice-cream and toppings in them, or a little cake with a topping of some sort.  Those little cake stands are just gorgeous too.
I have decided that I may need to find myself some beautiful pastel kitchen ware.  Any ideas were to start or what items I should start with?

5 ways I survived the holidays!!

I can't beleive how long it has been since I have blogged.  Now that we have term 2 behind us (thank goodness, not sure if I would survive doing it all again) I will be back here again.  I only took 1 week for the holidays because I used the first on doing school.  Now I assured our teacher that it definately not our best unit of work.  We are taking holidays in August to catch up with brand new neices that arrived into the world recently and also to visit the EKKA (Brisbane Royal Show).  I know you all must be thinking that I am mad to be going near another show and aren't I sick of them - but I have a passion for shows so I am really looking forward to it.
Anyway back to school work my theory is that if Miss M was attending a main stream school then we would just not be there for the 2 weeks and she would miss that work, so I told the teacher that even though the work was not the best at least it was done.

So we only had a week of school holidays, and this is how I survived it.
1.  For the first few days the girls were that happy to be able to play together whenever they felt like it.
2.  I made them clean up the toy room.  They found toys they haven't played with for awhile, it was just like getting new toys.
3.  We got a poddy calf (a calf with no mother).  She is very affectionate and so that novelty lasted about a day.
4.  Mr B took them for a drive to check the waters a few times.  Thats a few hours they're not in the house.
5.  Some new DVD's.

We also had a heap fun outside in the garden, feeding all the animals and just not having the pressures of school hanging over our heads.  It was just like a little mini break except we didn't have to leave home.
We are back at school again but now we are looking forward to our holiday in August.  Happy holidays to eveyone who is still on them.

AnK has some exciting new products that I will blog about in the next little while, so stay tuned.
