Merry Christmas to all!

I have been cooking madly today and making beds.  My husband and I are very fortunate to have both of our families with us for Christmas.  We are doing a combination of both hot and cold dishes for lunch tomorrow.  The good thing about that is all the leftovers for boxing day.  We are having neighbours over for boxing day for a bit of swimming, cricket and clay target shooting.  Kristy is having christmas with Alex's family and then they are off to the coast for boxing day.

These photos are just a little sample of what is heading to our Made It store in the new year.  We have lots of exciting ideas to start work on in the new year as well.

This is our last post for 2009 and will start again in January.  We wish all our valued clients, facebook fans and new blog followers a very Merry Christmas and Best wishes for the New Year.

I am off to have a some chrissy drinks.

Jazz them up..

Every year I print Christmas cards for my family and friends with pictures of my girls in it. Kristy found this really cool website to edit your photos so I thought I would give it a go. The photos have turned out great and you can do so much with it. The best thing about it is that it is FREE.

It's raining, It's pouring, this farmer is happy!!

It's funny how things happen. In my last post I explained how dry it was here and that we were supplement feeding some of our cows. Well it's a totally different outlook this morning. We have had 42mm so far and it is still raining, this is our largest fall of rain since Easter. There is a small amount of water in our dams and the everything looks like it has a spark of life back in it.

Not that this means we are out of the drought because we are a long way from that but it does ease the pressure a little and makes christmas a whole light brighter.

I know there is a lot of people who are still experiencing drought and it is the most devasting thing a farmer is ever going to experience. I hope that christmas and the New Year bring all of us a little relief.

An affair with the bull next door.

This post has nothing to do with AnK but more on the normal/practical side of our lives. I thought I would share this light hearted story with you.
These pictures are from my cattle property. It is very dry here and we are having to supplement feed some of our cattle with mollasses. Just like the stuff you buy in the supermarket but with a urea mix added. It helps to keep their stomachs healthy and gives them nutrients while we wait for it to rain (fingers crossed).
I know in the cities that you may get an ice-cream truck come around your streets, well for our cows this is the same thing. They usually have the trough licked clean. My girls find it quite amusing and will sing tunes just like an ice cream truck. The cows will come running from every where for their molasses.

As you can see our cattle are a reddish colour. We breed Droughtmasters. I have a cow here that was a poddy of mine (a calf with no mother and had to be bottlefed). She is still really friendly and I can pat her most of the time. We call her LeeLee. (Here she is eating molasses).

On this day when we were doing our molasses run we discovered that LeeLee has not been faithful to our bull. At some stage she has gone next door who has one Texas Longhorn Bull (that looks nothing like our cattle). Consequently this is the outcome. Introducing to you MaggieMoo. She definitely stands out from the crowd.

Successfull craft fair

On the weekend we hauled everything to a craft fair (two car loads). We had a very successful weekend at the fair. Our stock is very diminished so we will be busy restocking in the next few weeks before Christmas.

The photos above are of our stall so I hope you enjoy.

Cute as a button..

I am not sure what it is about buttons that make them so appealing. Is it their colours, or their size, or the materials that they are made from? We can't live without them and they are something that can never be replaced by new technology. Maybe that is what is so appealing - they are an invention that will never die.

Angie's Work Area

Seen as I exposed Kristy's work area yesterday I feel it only fair to do the same with mine. I have since packed everything away in it's place. I have been considering giving it a make over. Try and make it a little more inspirational. It's a bit bland at the moment.

Kristy's Work Area

We have been extremely busy lately in making excessive amounts of stock. We have a Craft Fair this weekend that has been quite busy for us previously and also keeping up with demand with our Made It store.
I thought I would share with you Kristy's work area at the moment in it's productive state.
I should point out that it very rarely looks like this and everything is usually in it's place.

Tomorrow I will post my workspace.

Shop Samples

Just thought I would add some things from our shop.

Introducing....

Us... This is our first post so you will have to bear with me while I learn this new skill of blogging.

Briefly in our profile I told you a little about us. We are two mothers with 2 children each. I have 2 girls Miss M(6yrs) and Miss S(4yrs) and Kristy has twins, Miss M and Master T(7yrs). We both live on Cattle properties which are about 2 hrs apart. We both live roughly 1 hr from our small hometown. Our children receive education through Distance Education in which both Kristy and I teach them. Enough about school because we have just finished for the year and are in deserate need of a holiday. I will post about school next year when we have recovered.

Now in all our spare time( which I am not sure we have any) we have a little store on Made It (which I think I have set up a link.. we will see.) and travel around to Markets with our handmade goodies for girls. We have Hair accessories, singlets/shirts, brooches, beanies and 3 new additions which have not made our Made It store yet, necklaces, hats and bags. So this keeps us very busy.

When I have worked out how to post a photo I will add some.

We are even busier at the moment because we have a Market this weekend that we are building up our stock to take. I will post about it next week.

I hope you will enjoy our blog and stop back on occasions to see what we have been up to.

Bye for now

Angie
